the cutting board club: polymer clay

In high school, Daniel Torrente filled his world with drawings of girls that became The Cutting Board Club. “Part girls he knew and part ones he wished he did” is how his partner Jill Penney describes them. For Jill, Daniel’s Cutting Board Girls were “The dolls I always wished I had and the dolls I wanted to make.” And so she did. In a wonderful collaboration, Jill’s talent and skill with polymer clay breathes life into Daniel’s quirky drawings. Click here to see the dolls, the drawings that inspired the dolls and to read their story – looks like the magic carries through into real life too.

“I am as much on the cutting board in the way I shape myself and my life as my dolls are. Being a part of The Cutting Board Club is realizing that we are all powerful and creative. Not just with art supplies but in everything we do. Ourselves and the world are always on the cutting board being shaped by every thought and action. It is our goal to be thoughtful and meticulous about how we craft ourselves and our thoughts and actions because those are the things that shape the world.”
